Interfaith Food Ministry Presents: "Feeding Families, Fueling Hope": a Virtual Benefit Concert
IFM would like to announce its first annual benefit concert, "Feeding Families, Fueling Hope". The concert will be live streamed online via Youtube and Facebook on Saturday, September 12th, 2020 with performances by local bands Boston Ravine, The Heifer Belles, and The Public String Band, plus other special guests to be announced.
September is an important month for IFM because it is designated internationally as Hunger Action Month, a month where people are reminded to take actions to end hunger in their communities by volunteering, donating funds or food, or simply raising awareness toward food insecurity. In addition, IFM kicks off its holiday food program fundraising campaigns in September, where all funds raised for the rest of the year go toward feeding families in need during the holidays.
Last year bluegrass band, Boston Ravine’s 14 year old member Mei Lin Heirendt held a small benefit concert for IFM at the historic Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Grass Valley, CA. The community loved the performance and a new tradition was born. All the proceeds went to feeding local families in need. While the pandemic has made it impossible to hold an in-person live concert at this time, the concert will instead be played at IFM in Grass Valley and shown live for free and by donation to the whole community online.
All proceeds go to feeding Western Nevada County Families in need. In addition IFM is celebrating 33 years of combating food insecurity with the help of 16 supporting local congregations! In the next few weeks, IFM will share the work that has been in partnership with 16 different local churches. Stay tuned for live stream details.
